Q
Home Automation- what is it?

A
An intelligent system for programming and operating electrical devices in and around the home. It connects electrical features so that they communicate with each other to increase your comfort and ease of living as well as offering safety and energy savings.

Q
How does it work?

A
A user friendly processor enables us to ‘talk' directly to all the electrical appliances and functions that have been connected to it via the field data wiring system.

Q
Do I have to be at home in order to control my system?

A
No – systems can be controlled locally or remotely from anywhere in the world.
For example you can call the house from a mobile phone or internet connection and instruct the system to perform tasks such as turning off a power source or presetting the central heating.

Q
I'm usually in a mad panic to leave home in the mornings – I don't want to have to deal with any more switches and buttons!

A
You won t have to! IQ helps you to save time. One touch to the ‘all off' switch enables you to close down your house, turning off all lights, closing or opening curtains, setting your heating back a few degrees to save money and energy, and even setting your alarm system! Now that is clever. A smart home is a home with IQ.

Q
Can I co-ordinate my heating, lighting and appliances?

A
Yes of course you can. All appliances can be pre-programmed to turn on and off at various times. You can even co-ordinate heating, lighting and appliances to come on together at certain times or under the dictate of a pre-selected switch or remote control by building them into a Macro. With the possibility of over 50 macros it's easy to see how you can make your system do whatever your heart desires.

Q
What about my computer and home entertainment system? Can they be linked in?

A
Yes of course, our IQ-Bus system has an inbuilt system to provide up to four channels of audio to any room in the house. But whether you use the Bus or Cardio system all your home entertainment and computer systems can,if required, be linked in to give seamless control

Q
Will it be very costly?

A
Like everything in life the more you buy the more it will cost, but Home Automation does not have to be expensive. A basic system can be provided for just a few thousand pounds. Home Automation is now within the reach of most people, but the important thing is to design the wiring so that you can add to the system at any time in the future. In that way you can start with a basic system and add to it as your budget allows.

Q
Can I tailor a system to suit my budget?

A
Yes you will see from the above question that correctly designed and installed, a basic system can be created that you can add to over time as you require.

Q
Surely it's only for people who own really large and expensive homes?

A
Far from it! IQ systems have been designed to be as much at home in a small one bed apartment as a large country home. In fact the easy to use IQ-Cardio touch screen fits in ideally with the modern contemporary life style, enabling you to set romantic or lively living scenes from its simple touch screen, whilst still giving you all the functions you need to control your apartment, making it an energy efficient haven, saving you money and providing you with an easy fun filled living environment. You have total control over your security, lighting, heating, appliances and home entertainment systems.

Q
Can Home Automation be installed without extensive rewiring?

A
The systems are best installed when a house is being built from new or is being refurbished. They can be installed into a house where no building work is taking place but this would involve some rewiring.
